Day 1
Arrive in San Francisco
Walking tour of union square join your tour director for a stroll through historic Union Square. Once a hotbed for organized labor protests, Union Square is a popular shopping district today.
Day 2
Guided tour of San Francisco
Tour the city by the bay with a local guide. You’ll pass through Chinatown, pacific Heights and Haight-Ashbury. You’ll also see the Embarcadero, crooked Lombard street, the golden gate bridge, twin peaks and Fishermans Wharf. Free time at fishermans wharf. Don’t miss the wharf’s famous sea lions as they sunbathe on the docks and entertain the crowd. Take some time to shop at Pier 39 and sample a local favorite-sourdough bread. Or, optional excursion to Alcatraz journey by ferry to alcatraz, the now-defunct prison the once held the likes of Al Capone and “Machine Gun” Kelly.
Day 3
Muir woods national monument
Discover nature at its finest as you explore this 560=acre grove of primeval coastal redwood trees, some of which grow 240 feet in height and 20 feet in diameter. Depart for home or extend your stay for two more days. Teach museum of innovation. Appropriately located in silicon valley, this museum features exhibits and experiments involving innovations in technology. Transfer to Monterey. Tour director-led sightseeing of Monterey. Stroll along the “path of history” in the city that inspired John Steinbeck’s novel cannery row.
Day 4
Guided sightseeing of Monterey
A local guide shows you Monterey in depth, from cannery row and pebble beach to Fanshell beach and point Joe. Monterey bay aquarium: Complete with tide pools and a million-gallon indoor ocean the Monterey aquarium remains one of the best in the nation-be sure to catch a glimpse of the sea otters at feeding time. Free time in Monterey: Browse through the shops that were once sardine-packing plants in Steinbeck’s day, or venture to the wharf for a seafood lunch. Or, optional whale watching excursion. Day 5
Carmel Mission
Tour the first of Father Junipero Serra’s California missions on today’s visit to carmel.
Depart for home
