Sample Itinerary Day 1
Arrive in New Orleans
Located on the last bend of the Mississippi River before the Gulf of mexico, New Orleans has earned the nickname the “Cresent City” Walking tour of the French quarter. Your tour director accompanies you on a walking tour through the French Quarter, the six-by-twelve-block center of the original New Orleans. Also known as the “Vieux Carre’,” the area is home to many historic sites. You’ll see Jackson square, a landscape park that draws musicians and other performers to its grounds. Then, stroll along the Moon Walk, a wooden promenade that runs parallel to the Mississippi, and browse through the French market. Day 2
Guided tour of New Orleans
See the old Ursuline Convent, and then marvel at the 19th-century home of Confederate General P.G.T. Beauregard. At the world trade center, see statues of joan of arc, Winston churchhill and Bernardo de Galvez, the Spanish governor of Louisiana in the 1780s. Then stroll down legendary Bourbon Street and the elegant garden District, one of the city’s poshest residential areas.
Aquarium of the Americas
This Aquarium features major exhibit areas: the Amazon River Basin, the carribean reef, the Mississippi River, and the gulf Coast.
Old U.S. Mint Jazz museum
This living history of Jazz includes photographs, original sheet music and memorabilia. The museum is housed in the only building in America to have served both as a U.S. and confederate Mint.
Evening riverboat cruise
Spend an evening on an old-fashioned riverboat as you cruise along the Mississippi River.
Day 3
Excursion to plantation
Excursion to plantation country Journey west from New Orleans on the Great River Road, the address for some of the grandest plantations in Louisiana. Tour Oak Alley, a plantation house dating from 1839 (the oaks were planted in the early 1700s). It was on these grounds that The long Hot Summer and segments of Interview with a vampire were shot. The house itself has been placed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Day 4
Bayou boat tour
Board a boat this morning and explore the heart of south Louisiana’s Swamplands, which surround the city of New Orleans. Second to Death Valley as the lowest area in the U.S., these swamps are also one of the wildest natural habitats on earth. Wander back into the meandering bayous and see the mysterious watery lands that gave Louisiana its legends and lore
