Parent FAQ Travel Information For Student Field Trips, Travel, and Educational Tours

What will my child do on the trip?
The specific itinerary will be chosen by the child’s Teacher/Group Leader based on his or her educational goals. Educational Field Trips hires specially-trained professionals, chosen for their ability to work with students and their knowledge of the program, the destinations and its sites. Your child’s teacher will pass out a preliminary itinerary once one is decided upon.

How is the trip chaperoned?
To ensure that your child is properly monitored, the school board requires that a safe ratio of adults to students are on each trip. The teacher / group leader assigns the trip chaperone's. Please contact your child’s Teacher/Group Leader with any questions or concerns.

How can we reach our child in case of an emergency?
On the final itinerary, once completed and approved by the teacher/group leader, it will have the phone number to the hotel or hotels your child will be staying at. It is also important to exchange numbers with other chaperone's/adults on the trip as to reach your child as soon as you need to speak to him/her. You can also call our toll free number at 1-866-608-4360.

When will I get specific flight information?

This information will be on the final itinerary provided to you 2 weeks before the trip is set to depart. All airlines are now doing electronic tickets so there will be no physical ticket to give you. In case of a flight change from the airline the teacher/group leader will be notified immediately of any changes.

Where will my child be staying?
All of our hotels are nationally recognized chain hotels such as Marriott properties, Holiday Inn, Hampton Inn, Hilton, Sheraton, or comparable. Each hotel has been chosen for its cleanliness, hospitality, and safe locations. Our hotels are “Student Group Friendly”.

How many participants are in a room?
Participants will be placed 4 to a room unless a room upgrade request has been requested and paid. The Teacher/Group Leader is responsible for creating the rooming list. If you have any questions please contact Teacher/Group Leader.

What kind of meals are provided for the students?
Students enjoy full Deluxe Continental or Full American Breakfasts at the hotel or local restaurant. Groups eat fast food, food courts, or cafeteria style lunches while touring and are also provided dinners as per their itinerary. In some cases, lunches may or may not be included in the program price. Please check on the final itinerary for any meals not included so that the student can bring cash provided to them by parent/chaperone.

Are meals for participants with dietary restrictions available?
Educational Field Trips can usually accommodate special diets when given advance notice. Please contact your Teacher/Group Leader and make him/her aware of any special dietary requirements prior to the trip.

What kind of clothes should my child wear?
Comfortable clothes and comfortable walking shoes are a must. As weather is unpredictable, bring rain gear and dress in layers should the temperature change through out the day. Please refer to the www.goeft.com destination pages for the local forecasts.

How much luggage can I bring?
We ask that each student bring 1 carry on bag. New requirements from most of the major airlines they will now start charging a per bag check in fee. The fee starts at approximately $15.00 for the 1st bag and $25.00 for a 2nd bag. We cannot collect this money up front so it is important that if you choose to bring more than a carry on bag you will need to pay for your extra luggage at the airport. Please check with the airline.
