Student Field Trips and Educational Tours to New Orleans
Take a trip to New Orleans or La Nouvelle-Orléans in French, the Jazz capital of the world! The city was named after Philippe d' Orléans, Duke of Orléans, and is well known for its distinct French Creole architecture, cuisine, music and annual celebrations held in the French Quarter on Bourbon Street. New Orleans is not only French inspired but is cross cultural and multilingual in heritage and you will see this throughout the city in street names and neighborhoods. New Orleans moves to the beat of its own drum and instead of traditional cemeteries below ground they have theirs above. Their distinct above-ground tombs are the oldest and most famous in the U.S. and can be found in the Saint Louis Cemetery. New Orleans is not all fun and games though. The National World War II Museum, also referred to as the "National D-Day Museum", contains information and materials related to the Invasion of Normandy. Art museums in the city include the Contemporary Arts Center and the Ogden Museum of Southern Art.
