Ford’s Theater – Enjoy an interpretive talk by a Park Ranger about Ford’s Theatre and the assassination of Abraham Lincoln and/or a one-act play titled One Destiny, which tells of the events of April 14, 1865, through the eyes of Harry Ford and Harry Hawk, two men who were present the day of Lincoln’s assassination.

Petersen House – This plain red brick three-story townhouse across the street from Ford’s Theatre is significant because President Lincoln was carried there and tended to in a back bedroom until his death hours later.

National Archives – View the original documents that shaped the future of the nation:  Bill of Rights, the Constitution, Declaration of Independence.

Tour of the Capital Building - The Capitol is home to the U.S. Congress and its two legislative bodies, the U.S. House of Representatives and the U.S. Senate.  Through films, exhibits, and tours, you will learn about how Congress works, how this magnificent building was built, and how citizens can participate in this extraordinary experiment called representative democracy.

Arlington Cemetery - Walk among headstones, honor and remember the brave men and woman that died for our freedom.

Memorials: Vietnam Wall, Korean War Memorial, Lincoln Memorial, WWII Memorial, Iwo Jima – See walls full of names of soldiers in honor of their service.

Pentagon Tour - Get out your sneakers because this tour follows a route that is approximately one and one half miles in length. At each tour learn about the mission of the Department of Defense and each of its branches of service. Visit numerous displays that highlight and depict significant moments in military history.

The National Zoo - The National Zoo is home to more than 2,000 animals, including many endangered species—from giant pandas and Asian elephants to Komodo dragons and wattled cranes. These creatures inhabit the Zoo's beautiful 163-acre park—an urban oasis in Rock Creek Park in the heart of Washington.

Drive down Embassy Row – This is the area of town where all the embassies or other diplomatic installations are concentrated. If you write to Ambassadors prior to your trip you may secure a meeting with them to speak to your students about their country.

Bureau of Engraving & Printing– On this tour you will see millions of dollars being printed. The tour features the various steps of currency production, beginning with large, blank sheets of paper, and ending with wallet-ready bills!

Holocaust Museum – A living memorial to the Holocaust of World War II, the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum inspires citizens and leaders worldwide to confront current hatred, promote human dignity, and prevent genocide in our world today and in the future.
